If he doesn't understand what's at stake here, he's either a poor one or willfully misunderstanding.

And this whole "WoC are just jealous" bit. Puhleeze. I was in a hurry - all this stuff had blown up when I was looking the other way, and I was trying to get caught up and skimming - and so here's where I say, "Jessica Hoffman said it first, even if I didn't read her - she said it first. Go check her out."Plain(s)feministhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15056404699624958898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20435429.post-46475660692446235072008-04-10T07:49:00.000-05:002008-04-10T07:49:00.000-05:00"You’re worried about professional reputations, an..."You’re worried about professional reputations, and they’re worried about the social change they’re trying to effect, the change that is being stalled by white women twisting their words and denying their realities."

This is a good point and something I missed entirely. If it's about X individually, then what X feels is the only issue that matters.

I mistakenly thought it was about building a better world and working together. That sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not. I didn't understand where X and others were focusing their attention.

Luckily, I've been part of a movement that expects individuals to be human, make mistakes, learn and move on. It's a different world altogether. I prefer my environment to what X has gotten herself into. I'm also going to refuse to play by her rules or cater to her personal needs because my focus is elsewhere.

BlackAmazon linked this article by Jessica Hoffman that talks about the same disconnect: between women working toward personal goals and those who want to build a movement. It's awesome.Ravenmnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11578771107514349258noreply@blogger.com
