Dear Missionaries...

...it is really rude to stand outside CVS and try to convert people on other religions' high holy days, such as Passover, which it is now.

Get a clue.

Sincerely,

How horrible

Jews for Jesus? They're awful. I didn't appreciate their full awfulness until I came to NYC.

If it's another outfit, they're awful, too.

I like to remind them that if I, a Witch, were to pray that they be separated from their religion, get all confused, and very likely lose friends, community, and family support, they'd call me a bad Witch cursing them, and they'd be right. Then I tell them truthfully that I never do such things, but that's what they want for me.

In Orange County, where I grew up, this type of thing was par for the course. Teachers would proselytize in the classroom, and hordes of people would proselytize at July 4th fireworks shows. If any of them ever saw you wearing something (jewelry, a garment, whatever) affiliated with another religion, they'd make a beeline to you and cry, "I HAVE TO TALK TO YOU RIGHT NOW!!"

I know - I seriously need to come up with something good to say to people who ring my bell to talk to me about their religion. The older I get, the less I have patience with that kind of crap.

Lilo - nope, not Jews for Jesus. Just Mormons.

Girl - that's pretty freaky.

Plainsfeminist - my line is "I have my own religion it involves human sacrifice, I was just about to start services. Care to join me?"

Yeah, I have a sick sense of humour.
