So, I've finished the new Harry Potter.

And I have no one to talk about it with, as no one in my family is reading the series. Sigh.

I'll just say that it was good, it did everything I wanted it to in terms of tying up the loose ends and providing a resolution, and there were a few things that I turned out to be right about.

Also, I think I finished it in record time, considering that I only started reading yesterday afternoon.

I'm disappointed, now, that the stories are finished.

Harry Potter is true. Harry Potter is scripture. Are these things possible?

OK. So. As if anybody needed any warning, there be SPOILERS here.

I was delighted to find that Snape was a good guy after all. I had thought when I read #6 that perhaps Dumbledore knew he was dying and asked Snape to kill him in order to save Draco - I was thrilled to have gotten something right.

Here's something I'd like to know. What was the fallout of breaking into the bank? I don't really see the goblins forgiving that too quickly...any thoughts?

Yep. I was worried for a bit there, but really, Good!Snape is the only thing that makes actual sense, considering how many times he saved Harry's ass over and over and the effort he put into Harry's special lessons.

I liked that he wasn't a softie too -- I worried he'd end up good and then there'd be little explanation of how he could so uncaringly watch others die (cf the beginning of the book), why exactly he was a Death Eater way back when. I felt like explaining it all in terms of love for Lily and Lily only made a LOT of sense.

Hmmm. No idea.

I don't care about Harry Potter. Reading the Koran or Book of Mormon or hitting my hand with a hammer is more fun and educational. However, my wife a church organist, read two of the books over several weeks during the sermon. She liked the series.

I thought it was by far the best of the series. I hope it's true that Cuaron (the director of Prisoner of Azkaban) is directing it: that'd be AWESOME.
